This course is a 10 week comprehensive study, including-- tool sharpening, relief carving, carving in the round and chip carving. Cost is $50 per person, per week. Skill level—beginner to intermediate.

A 10 week course, including sharpening and use of rouging gouges, skew chisels and scrapers. Projects and techniques include: eggs, egg cups, weed pots, tool handles, letter openers, carvers mallets, honey drippers, pencil cups, scoops, goblets with loose rings, lidded boxes, hollow ornaments and “inside-out” turning. Cost is $50 per person, per week. Skill level – beginner to intermediate.

This course includes all aspects of bowl turning, from roughing out to finishing. Projects include a salad bowl, shallow bowl, plate, platter, wide-mouth vase, small hollow vessel and a simple wall sculpture. Cost is $50 per person, per week. Skill level – beginner to intermediate.

In this class we learn to turn vessels with a wall thickness of 1/16” to 1/8”. We will continue by exploring decorative techniques including, piercing, texturing and painting, etc. 2 full days. $200 per student. Skill level – intermediate to advanced.

What is an inside-out turning? It is a spindle turning with both ends left square, which is then cut or separated into 4 pieces lengthwise. The four outside corners are then rotated inward resulting in 4 windows or silhouettes. The turned shape of the spindle dictates the shape of the silhouette and will produce a symmetrical pattern. The final outcome is a decorative piece that is fun and challenging. A very popular one day class for intermediate to advanced turners. $100 per student.

A 2 day class that will cover turning a larger diameter wall sculpture. We will have an interactive discussion on design to enhance the sculpture with texturing, carving, painting, etc. The final result is a contemporary piece that you will be proud to display. Intermediate to advanced skill levels. $200 per student.

A one day class, focusing on turning a lidded box, with a decorative finial and/ or pedestal. This project will be a highly refined work of art, as well as useful. Intermediate to advanced skill levels. $100 per student.

I am available to do demonstrations on any of the above techniques for clubs, scout troops etc. $200 + travel expenses.
